Who needs a food handler’s health certificate?

Anyone working in food preparation, production, packaging, or service — including restaurants, cafés, bakeries and catering companies— is required by the Cyprus Ministry of Health to hold a valid health certificate.

Usually a stool culture to check for Salmonella, Shigella, and intestinal parasites (parasitology), as required by public health regulations.

Results are typically ready within 1–2 working days, after which the certificate is issued by the District Health Services.
